30 days of Blogging: Day 17

Someone I would want to switch lives with for one day and why...

I think it's easy for us to be jealous of other people's lives, or to see what's wrong in our lives and what we want to change.  I know I'm guilty of this, daily.  Yet this question was still difficult for me.  Yeah, some days I wish I hadn't graduated early, or that I'd applied to grad school.  That I had the drive and determination of that person, that I could go on study abroad like Lyse, that I could be with my friends in Provo or Florida, that I wasn't so sensitive, that my pants would fit me better.  I wish I could write something meaningful and beautiful like John Donne, that I had the wit and humor of Jane Austen or Oscar Wilde, that I had the capacity for learning like some of my favorite professors, that I had lived in a different time.  That I lived on a farm, that I had more of a work ethic, that I were a better cook.
Obviously, my life has room for improvement, but it also has so many good and wonderful and beautiful things that I don't want to ever give up.  I have two wonderful parents who love me and taught me so much, who continue to teach me everyday through their example.  I have four beautiful siblings who are growing up into incredible people--and they're all pretty funny and good looking too.  My whole family on both sides, and all my in-laws, are wondeful, caring people.  I was fortunate enough to attend college, and while that may not have helped me find a career, it did teach me so much: about myself, about the world around me, and about my relationship to God.  I have been able to live in many different and beautiful places, and I've been able to make great friends and find kindred spirits wherever I've lived.  Personally, I think I've got a great sense of humor.  I do my best to be compassionate and non-judgemental, to stand up for what I believe in, to be a loyal friend.  I have a testimony and a love of the gospel.
My dad used to say to me when I was growing up, "Lauren, maybe someday, if you're very lucky, you'll be able to marry a man who loves you as much as I love your mother."  I am pretty darn lucky to have Dan.  My Aunt Cheryl was the photographer for our wedding, and after following us around all day and documenting our every move, she said to my mom, "They're always laughing!"  I like that about us.  I'm so glad I married someone who I can be so joyful with.  Plus he's pretty nice to look at too.

So I guess, there isn't really anyone I'd want to switch places with for a day, because I'd never want to give any of that up, not even for a day.
