To Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived!

Like many in my generation, I am a big, huge, Harry Potter nerd.  I said recently to a friend that the lines between my childhood and Harry's childhood are very blurred in my mind.  Some days it really does feel like I conquered Voldemort, you know?  Or at least that Harry and I did it together, in a sort of tag-team effort.
Ok, maybe it's not that much of an obsession, but my formative years were heavily influenced by Harry Potter.  It's like he was my childhood sweetheart.  In fact, if we could just forget all the dumb boys I dated in high school and say that Harry Potter was my boyfriend, that would just be great!  I probably had more of a relationship with him than with any of them anyways.

In case you were unaware, Wednesday was my childhood sweetheart's birthday! (And also J.K. Rowlings!)  I have been wanting to throw Harry a birthday party for probably most of my life.  Pinterest was only adding fuel to the fire, and I'm so happy to tell you that I finally succeeded in pulling one off.

This was one of those awesome parties where you toss the idea to a friend and you're both all about it...but then you don't really even do anything until the day of.  And that includes inviting people.  But we still had a pretty good turn-out...I mean, who can say no to Harry Potter and treats????

We sipped homemade Butterbeer, and munched on Bertie Botts, Pretzel Wands, and chips with Polyjuice Potion (bean dip).  Oh, and a birthday cake, of course!

Recipe for Butterbeer found here.

Thanks to everyone who came! I think after all the fun we had, a Harry Potter marathon may be in the works...

(P.S. Truly sorry for the horrible picture quality, I only had my phone, and the lighting in our kitchen isn't the greatest at night time...but I think you get the general idea. :))
